President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday received Abia State Governor Alex Otti at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

PUNCH Online reports that Otti arrived at the Presidentโ€™s office complex dressed in a grey, knee-length traditional attire.

The visit follows Ottiโ€™s recent trip to the Sokoto Correctional Centre, where he met with the convicted leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

He was accompanied by Kanuโ€™s younger brother, Emmanuel Kanu; Abia State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ikechukwu Uwanna, SAN; and his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma.

Speaking with reporters after the Sokoto visit, the governor maintained that addressing matters surrounding Kanuโ€™s detention is a key priority for his administration.

Otti, through his media aide, reiterated that Abia State is pursuing a coordinated and lawful strategy to secure Kanuโ€™s release.

โ€œWhile Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is free to appeal his conviction, Iโ€™m happy to inform you that I have activated and will continue to work on the already agreed strategy until his freedom is secured,โ€ Otti said.

It is understood that Tuesdayโ€™s meeting with Tinubu is believed to be part of the governorโ€™s ongoing political and legal push to achieve a resolution to the long-running matter.
