A private entertainment firm known as UTOWN Entertainment has announced plans to host the maiden edition of ABIA CHRISTMAS VILLAGE 2023 in Umuahia the Abia State capital.
The event selected for December 25-31th is expected to offer a 7-day of leisure, entertainment and family celebration to attendees during the Yuletide period.
Speaking to newsmen on Monday, the program manager, CHRISTMAS VILLAGE 2023, Mr Emenike Iroegbu, said the project was conceived in order to bridge the organized entertainment gap usually experienced in Umuahia in the past during the Xmas season.
He disclosed that the event will be organized at the Abia State Centre within the Okpara square axis of the Umuahia City Centre.
Iroegbu, said although the project is private sector driven, the state government and business interest are welcome to sponsor the project.
“The project aims at providing fun fare during the christmas in a particular location. Attendees will have access to food, drink and
entertainment. There will be men lounges, children play ground, and game areas.
“Manufacturers of different products will have the opportunity to show case their brands to fun seekers during the event” he said.
Also speaking, the project coordinator Mr Peterson Agu, said the event will start with an opening ceremony on December 25, with Governor Alex Otti, as a special guest.
He added that a children’s party and Diva’s night would be hosted on December 26.
Other subsequent activities include; food festival, arts and cultural exhibition, creative industry night and Made in Abia trade fair.
In his remark, the marketing manager of the project, Mr Onyebuchi Ogbonna, pointed out that 150 stands would be made available for business owners to sell their products at the cost of hundred and fifty thousand only.
He revealed that over one thousand guests are expected to attend the event daily.
