2027: Abia youth leaders endorse Otti for second term

Abia youth leaders has endorsed Governor Alex Otti’s second term in office ahead of the 2027 general election.

The endorsement came after an unanimous vote of confidence was passed on the governor over his outstanding performance in office during the Abia youth leaders town hall meeting held in Umuahia the state capital on Tuesday.

Speaking during the event with the
theme”Repositioning Abia Youths For a Sustainable New Abia Project” Gov. Otti charged the youths to endeavour to set their goals right and start pursuing early in life.

The governor who was represented by
the General Manager Abia State Environmental Protection Agency Mr ogbonnia Okereke, advice youths in the state to shun social vices and crimes and embrace hardwork.

He said, “If you want to be a sport man, you have to build yourself from your youthful days. You can’t become a leader in any field from day one, you must work hard for you to get to the top.

“Every youth must be ambitious to achieve his goals. Life is not a contest, you must not be the richest person, but you must thrive to distinguish yourself in your chosen career.

“The youths must select the right role model and should not be carried away by peer pressure. You must be mindful of what you post on social media. Some young people today will say they are bad, wicked and they have bad character
on the social media, such a post can deny you an employment opportunity in the future”.

Also speaking the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development Mr Nwaobilor Ananaba, said the state government is poised at helping the youths in the state harness their talents for global impacts.

“We are blessed with talent and we sit on a history of industrial ingenuity. We have the raw materials, the human capital, and the energy to serve not just Nigeria, but the entire West African market—and if we dare to think bigger, we can compete with China, trade with Europe, and deliver value to the world.

“However, that won’t happen by accident. It will happen when we are prepared. It will happen when we choose to be deliberate and intentional.

“And that is the very essence of this meeting— thinking outside the box and doing things differently.Hence, the question is what can we do differently?This among others is the question we are here to answer today” he stated.

Mazi Iroy Orji, who moderated the endorsement session, said that the gesture was a way to appreciate Governor Otti’s impact on youth development and state-wide transformation.

“The price for good work is more work,” he said. “Across the state, the enthusiasm among young people is overwhelming. We are proud of the Governor’s achievements, and the best way to show appreciation is to ask for continuity. As far as the youths are concerned, there is no vacancy in Government House come 2027.”he said.

The highpoint of the event was a panel discussion on how Abia youths
harness their potentials to attain great heights in Agriculture, tech and the business world.

Among the panelists were the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development Mr Onyebuchi Chukwu , Mr Chimezie OKORO CEO, Abia SME Bank, Hon Victoria Onwubiko, the Director General of ABSAA, Hon Ubani Dannie former Abia State Commissioner For Youth Development, Engr Chinedu Onyeozu among others.
