2027: Transport unions hold solidarity walk for Gov. Otti in Aba

The State President of Cooperative Motor Union, Abia State, Mr. Chukwuma Azode, has declared the unalloyed support of the motor unions and all transport operators and said that any opposition challenging Governor Alex Otti, in 2027 governorship election is taking risk.
Azode stated this in Aba on Thursday during a Two-Million Man March organized by various transport unions in Abia State in solidarity with the road infrastructural development of Governor Alex Otti.
According to the union leader, with the unprecedented achievements of Governor Otti , he does not think that sensible politician would contest governorship election with Governor Otti.
“From what we are seeing, I don’t think any sensible person should involve himself in anything concerning elections, because from what we are seeing, His Excellency is supposed to enjoy his 8 years.
“So, for now, any opposition that is coming out is taking risk, is taking a very big risk, because we, Abians are in support of His Excellency, Dr Alex Otti for now, and no other person. And all the motor union in Abia State are also endorsing His Excellency for 2027. That’s the part of our gathering here today.
“This gathering, this two Million March is not political. It’s non-political, and I believe that there is a lot of people that love His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, that are here, and most of them are from different political backgrounds. So, what we are doing is non-political, but they are here as lovers of Dr. Alex Otti based on his good works in Abia State.
“We are here to show solidarity to His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti to celebrate all his good works in Abia State. Within an interval of two years in office, he has shown a great capacity.
“So, that is the reason why we are gathering here to celebrate him. We have a lot of people residing in Aba, and Aba, to start with, is a place that His Excellency has promised that he’s going to develop more, so that we will now get more investors coming in to invest,” Azode maintained.
Also, the state Chairman of Abia State Tricycle Operators Union, (ASTOPU) comrade Victor Azubuike said the rally was organised to appreciate the smooth movement in Abia especially Aba.
He revealed that Aba transporters are the most beneficiaries of what is happening under the present administration and thanked Governor Otti for being a good leader.
Speaking in an interview, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on transportation, Dr. Obioma Nwaogbe, said the transport operators have reasons to celebrate Gov. Otti based on the transformational projects carried out by Governor and appreciated the good job Governor Otti has has done towards transport infrastructural development within two years in office.
“Like you can see, he has been constructing a lot of roads in the state, both urban and rural road infrastructural development. All those roads that are being constructed are for transportation use.
“The people that use the road most are the transporters and these roads make it so seamless for all the transport operators and the commuters themselves.
He said that the choice of Aba for the rally is because Aba is the economic hub of the eastern zone, also that the majority of the work done is more in Aba as the Governor wants to attract more investors.
The Two-Million Man March which took off from Osisioma Junction through Aba-Owerri road down to Asa road Aba saw jubilant Aba residents celebrating in grand style across the streets and roads of Aba, the Enyimba city.
