Eze Aro proposes film village in Arochukwu to Honour Late Actor Alexx Ekubo
The Traditional Ruler of Arochukwu Kingdom in Abia State, His Eminence Eze Dr. Eberechukwu Oji, Eze Aro IX, on Thursday announced plans to establish a Film Village in Arochukwu in honour of late Nollywood actor, Alexx Ekubo.
Eze Aro made the announcement during a lecture and dinner to mark his 2nd Coronation Anniversary in Amuvi Arochukwu.
According to the monarch, the film village will preserve the legacy of the late actor while also serving as a training centre for aspiring actors.
He said, “His life will serve as an example of what can happen when a person lives an exemplary life. He lived a good life and deserves to be remembered.
“This project will also teach younger generations that people who live exemplary lives can be celebrated even after their lifetime.
The Eze further charged the people of Arochukwu to be alive to their responsibilities in rebuilding the kingdom. He urged them to uphold and preserve their traditions, including the proper reverence for the breaking of kola nut and the wearing of the Omu Aro regalia by all sons of the kingdom.
He also advised parents to teach their children the proper dressing of an Arochukwu son and to give them original Aro names that reflect the heritage and identity of the kingdom.
Explaining the reason for annual coronation anniversary celebrations, Eze Aro said Arochukwu is currently undergoing a rebuilding process after years of decline.
“While some communities celebrate their coronation anniversaries every five or ten years because they are already well established, Arochukwu is still on a renaissance journey and requires annual celebrations to sustain the rebuilding efforts,” he stated.
