2027: Bende Youths Vow To Vote, Defend Their Votes For Dr. Chima Anyaso, Labour Party
—As Anyaso Vows To Renovate Okputong Community Hall If Deputy Speaker Fails To Do So Within One Month-
Youths from Okputong, Agbamuzu, Amaugwu, Isiegbu, Isiala, Umuorie, Umuokoro, Okporoenyi and Ukpom in Bende Town have pledged their support for the Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chima Anyaso, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The youths made their position known during a meeting with Dr. Chima Anyaso at the Okputong Community Hall in Bende Town on Saturday , where they declared their readiness to mobilise their various groups, vote for the Labour Party candidates and protect their votes during the election.
Speaking on behalf of the youths, Chinedu Ude, Alice Kalu and Okorie Ugboaja assured Dr. Chima Anyaso of their commitment to the campaign, promising to mobilise young people across Bende Town.
“With my little power, with my group and those with me, we shall work, vote and defend our votes for you,” , the Youth Chairman stated
The youths further assured the Labour Party candidate of a warm reception whenever he visits Bende Town.
“All the youths in Bende have resolved to work for you. Anytime you want to come to Bende Town, we will wait for you at Agbamazu and lead you into Bende Community,” they stated.
Responding, Dr. Chima Anyaso appreciated the youths for the opportunity to interact with them and for hosting him, but expressed concern over the state of the Okputong Community Hall.
Dr. Chima Anyaso described the condition of the facility as unacceptable and challenged the community’s representative to renovate it within one month.
“This hall is not befitting for a Federal House member from this town. Go and tell your brother to do it within one month; if not, I will come and fix it,” he said.
He also used the occasion to highlight what he described as the need for elected representatives to prioritise development within their immediate communities, rather than concentrating interventions elsewhere.
“You move from your house to other places. In Igbere, we have four functional hospitals in Igbere. We don’t want hospital; let him come and fix his place,” Dr. Chima Anyaso said.
On the 2027 election, he urged the youths not to be intimidated by fears of electoral manipulation, assuring them that the election should be determined by the will of the people.
“In this 2027 election, there will be no rigging. We won’t allow it to happen,” he declared.
“Governor Alex Otti won’t take rigging and irregularities lightly. Whoever wins should take it, but nobody will be cheated. Election 2027 will be free and fair,” he added.
Dr. Chima Anyaso also urged the youths to remain resolute and steadfast in their support for Governor Alex Otti and the Labour Party.
In a separate address, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress(APC) , Hon. Anyim Eke, reminded the youths of what he described as an understanding between the All Progressives Congress and its candidate concerning the occupancy of the Bende Federal Constituency seat.
According to him, the arrangement was for two tenures, arguing that campaigning for a third tenure would amount to a departure from that understanding.
On their parts, the Mayor of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. DCN Uwabunkonye Bassey; the Deputy Mayor, Hon. Ngozi Sandra; the Leader of the Council; and the Labour Party candidate for Bende South State Constituency, Hon. Chinedu Edwin Okorie, urged the youths to mobilise massively for Dr. Chima Anyaso and other Labour Party candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
They called for unity, commitment and sustained grassroots mobilisation to secure victory for the party.
In a vote of thanks, the Chairman of the Labour Party in Bende Local Government Area, Sir Lawrence Eze, appreciated the youths for hosting Dr. Chima Anyaso and for creating an opportunity for the candidate to interact directly with the people of Bende Town.
