Anyaso donates brand new ambulance to Bende Local Government, vows accountable representation

The Labour Party candidate for the Bende Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election Chief Chimaobi Anyaso has marked his 46th birthday with the donation of a brand new, fully equipped ambulance to support healthcare delivery in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

Speaking during the presentation on Tuesday the philanthropist said the gesture was part of his yearly birthday tradition of giving back to the community and to support the state Governor Alex Otti’s investments in the health sector.

“This is my sincere pleasure and honor to give back to the land that gave birth to me. Every year on my birthday, I celebrate with people. I do outreach,” he said.

He recalled that last year he donated vehicle materials, food items and other support to the Nigeria Correctional Centre in Umuahia and also supported nursing students at the Abia State Teaching Hospital.

“This year, we chose to support the healthcare sector in my own constituency, Bende. This is the first ever ambulance in Bende, and it’s also a brand new one,” he stated.

He noted that most health centers in Bende, including the two newly retrofitted centers in his community, Igbere had no ambulance.

“This is also an encouragement to His Excellency, the Governor of Abia State, who has been investing heavily in the healthcare sector,” he added.

Speaking of his aspirations for the House of Representatives seat, Anyaso said his 20 years of private investments in education and now healthcare are proof of his commitment to the development of the constituency.

“20 years ago, we built a modern, free nursery and primary school in my community and have run it for 20 years. Today, we have also broken another record as the first private individual to invest heavily in healthcare in Bende,” he said.

On what he would bring to the table that is different, he said:
“Government-funded projects are not personal money. Going to the federal house, we are going to do things differently. We will ensure the people hold us accountable. Everything due to the people, we will bring to the people and they will know the source and how it is being used.”

He criticized what he described as “cheap projects” and “substandard contracts” by the current representatives, saying:
“All the projects that the current House member has done have all failed because of substandard contractors. Going to the federal house, we are going to bring change. We are going to do things the way it should be done, in standard form.”

He stressed that as a candidate, he would follow due process and the law in attracting federal projects to the constituency.

As part of his 46th birthday activities, he also said he would extend gifts to workers in Bende LGA and students of his alma mater under his free education initiative.
“This is what we do. This is what they know us to do. There is no ambiguity about it.” he maintained.

The Commissioner for Health in the state, Professor Enoch Ogbonnaya-Uche, described the donation as a significant milestone in the state’s health sector.

The Commissioner who was represented by the condinatir of emergency medical services in the state Dr. Chukwuemeka Nwakanma, said having an ambulance donated by an individual would greatly support the state government’s efforts.

According to him, “The state government has invested substantially in ensuring a functional emergency service and ambulance system, and what Mr. Anyaso has done is remarkable.

“It is not just the donation of a vehicle. It is an effort to save lives and it supports the state government’s drive to ensure that emergency medical services get to the grassroots,”.

Also speaking, the Major of Bende LGA, Deacon Uwabunkeonye Bassey said the donation would complement the efforts of the state governor, who has reconstructed 16 health centres in Bende Local Government Area.

He added that more health projects are still expected in Bende.
