IPOB berates Mbah over disruption of opposition rallies in Enugu State, restates boycott of 2027 polls
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has berated the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah over the alleged disruption of rallies of the opposition in Nkanu West.
Enugu.
This is even as the pro Biafra group has restated its stand in boycotting next year’s elections if their leader, Nnamdi Kanu’s appeal at the Supreme Court was not listed and heard.
Head of the Fourth Administration, Directorate of State (DOS), IPOB, Chris Nwaọgụ expressed the group’s displeasure during his weekly address monitored from Umuahia, Abia State.
He said, “What is happening in Enugu is unacceptable. Governor Peter Mbah’s political space has become a theatre of thugs disrupting rallies and ward meetings of opponents.
“Opposition gatherings in Nkanu West have been invaded. People have been shot. Canopies and chairs have been destroyed. The police confirm attacks. The APC denies everything. The pattern is what matters.”
The IPOB helmsman sounded a note of warning that the group is against every form of violence. He added that the use of criminal elements to intimidate political opponents must be put to an immediately.
Nwaogu reiterated his earlier stand that IPOB will boycott the general elections in January, unless Nnamdi Kanu’s appeal was listed and heard by the Supreme Court.
“A boycott is not a licence to disrupt rallies. A boycott is not a licence to unleash thugs. That is the same script the APC government used to demonise IPOB over Monday sit-at-home. They created chaos, blamed us, and sold the lie to the world. That will not be allowed to happen again”, he said.
Nwaogu disclosed that the method IPOB will use to ensure compliance with the election boycott will be revealed when the election is nearer as to stop desperate politicians from hijacking and turning it into mayhem.
While expressing joy at some international developments coming from Jerusalem, Washington and Catalonia in favour of IPOB and her struggle, Nwaogu however mocked United Kingdom over her complacency in Kanu’s case.
“Last week I told you Jerusalem and Washington were the epicentres of our push. This week we are delivering on that promise.
“A high-ranking member of the Israeli Knesset, MK Afef Abed, has written to the United Nations. The letter, dated September 1, 2026, went to the UN Secretary-General, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Chair-Rapporteur of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention.
“He did not write a polite note. He demanded the implementation of Opinion No. 25/2022 — the UN finding that Onyendu’s detention is arbitrary, that Kenya and Nigeria must remedy it without delay, and that the proper remedy is immediate release, compensation and investigation of the rendition from Kenya.
“He also placed on that record the call already made on the floor of the United States Congress by Rep. John James, and the continuing concern for Onyendu’s health.
“Catalonia honoured us last week. Washington has spoken. Israel has now written to the UN.
And look at Britain itself. A little village in Oxfordshire — Piddington — has just conducted a referendum on leaving the United Kingdom”.
Nwaogu went further to say, “The people voted to go. When even a small English village is balloting on secession, the house that lectured the world on ‘one Nigeria’ is no longer as solid as it pretends.
“Onyendu said it years ago: Britain cannot keep denying other peoples their right to self-determination and expect peace in its own house. They called it play. Piddington has now voted.
“As long as the United Kingdom remains complicit in the illegal detention of Onyendu and in the fight against Biafra, the UK will continue to convulse politically — and Nigeria will continue to go down the drain”.
The IPOB Chief condemning the death of 37 illegal miners in Niger state, said that was not law enforcement, but wasting of young lives without remorse and, without real accountability.
He said IPOB has now become more united as there is no more Autopilot group or any more parallel titles, but
one family, pursuing two things – the release of Kanu and Biafra restoration.
He assured that IPOB will never abandon all those who suffered one loss or the other as a result of the struggle.
Nwaọgụ made it clear that as announced by their leader, Kanu, the Fourth Administration Directorate of State (DOS) of IPOB which he heard, will be the last that will usher in Biafra and urged members to remain steadfast.
