Kalu Hails Otti’s Development Drive, Calls for Sustained Support Ahead of 2027
A prominent philanthropist and political figure, Chief Dr. Emeka Charles Kalu, has applauded the administration of Alex Otti, describing his leadership as a turning point in the developmental trajectory of Abia State.
Speaking during a media interaction, Kalu noted that the state is witnessing a wave of infrastructural renewal and social sector reforms that have begun to reshape both urban and rural communities. According to him, recent road and bridge projects have significantly eased movement, opened up economic corridors, and restored confidence among residents and investors.
He highlighted newly delivered transport infrastructure linking several communities that were previously isolated, particularly during peak rainy seasons.

The projects, he said, have not only reduced travel time but also enhanced agricultural trade, enabled small businesses to thrive, and strengthened inter-community ties. Urban centers such as Aba and surrounding industrial hubs have also benefited from major road rehabilitation, which has improved commercial mobility and reduced logistics costs for traders and manufacturers.
Beyond infrastructure, Kalu emphasized that the administration’s policies are also making visible impacts in education and healthcare. He pointed to ongoing school upgrades, improved learning facilities, and teacher support initiatives aimed at restoring confidence in public education. In the health sector, he observed that primary and secondary healthcare systems are gradually being repositioned through equipment upgrades, personnel support, and improved service delivery.
“The difference is becoming evident across sectors. Governance should reflect in the everyday lives of citizens, and that is what we are beginning to see,” Kalu stated.
He further called on residents, particularly those in Abia North, to remain supportive of the current reform momentum. According to him, continuity in governance will help consolidate the gains already recorded and ensure that ongoing projects are completed and expanded.
Kalu also urged stakeholders and grassroots leaders to align with the broader reform agenda, stressing that sustainable development requires collective backing from citizens, political actors, and community influencers alike.
Observers say the commendation adds to a growing list of endorsements from civil society leaders and political stakeholders who believe the current administration has introduced a results-driven governance style centered on infrastructure renewal, human capital development, and economic revitalisation.
With political conversations gradually shifting toward the 2027 electoral cycle, analysts believe such public endorsements may shape emerging alignments, especially as debates around performance and continuity take center stage.
