The Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration of the Abia State University Prof Godwin Emezue has regained his freedom after spending 11days in Kidnappers den.

Recall that the Abia State Police command had confirmed his abduction in a fueling Station in Umuahia the State capital over two weeks ago.

Emezue who was whisked away to an unknown destination by the suspected Kidnappers was released on Tuesday night after a ransom of 25Million was paid by his Family which was a condition for his release by his Kidnappers.

A source close to the professor’s family told our correspondent that
the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of 35 million from them, adding they however threatened to kill him after the family pleaded with a cash of N5 million.

The source said “Kidnappers had realsed footages of how they tortured the Professor and threatened to kill him if the family fails to pay N20 million before the end of Saturday last week.

“The family rallied round and raised the money and gave to the Kidnappers who had issued a warning against involving security agencies.

“However his kidnappers demanded an additional 5 Million, claiming that they had instructions to Kill him but may not want to do that for the new year. His family with the support of his friends and Abia State University raised the money which was sent again to the Kidnappers”.
