The wife of the Governor of Abia State, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, has welcomed the first baby of the year at a Primary Healthcare maternity center in Aba South Local Government Area of Abia State and presented gift items and a cash donation to the mother to care for the child.
The baby, Master Zeal Favour Chiudo was born at exactly 12 : 08 am 01/01/2025, and weighed 3.5 kg at the point of delivery.
At the health center, the governor’s wife said that it is a good thing to welcome the first baby of the year into 2025, with so much joy and blessings.
According to her, “the birth of a baby bring so much joy to the mother and with the commitment of the state government towards improving the primary healthcare sector, I advise the mother to do exclusive breastfeeding, it benefits a lot and help the baby grow with proper nutrients” she said.
Three other babies delivered in the same primary health care center also received gift items, baby kits with cash donation.
While the Governor’s wife prayed for the babies, she called on the parents to devote maximum time in the up bringing of the babies with good morals in such a way they should not depart from as they grow.
In her remarks, the manager of the health centre, Ms. Blessing Adanma thanked the Governors wife for her kind gesture towards the babies and for choosing the health centre for her visitation.
However, the mother of the first baby of the year, Mrs. Obiuto Favour who hailed from Umuani in Delta State could not hide her joy but thanked the Abia First Lady for visiting and donating gifts to them.
Meanwhile, in a related development the wife of the Governor also visited the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia the capital city where she received 3 other babies.
She also showers them with gift and cash donations adding that these children are the first gift God has given to Abia this year.
In their contributions, the commissioner for women affairs, Dr Maureen Aghukwa, the commissioner for health, Dr. Enoch Ogbonnaya Uche and the Mayor of Aba South, Mr. Obilor Anyanwu thanked Mrs. Otti for her role in complementing the efforts of Governor Alex Otti especially in the health sector.
They said that Governor Otti’s intervention in the health sector is already yielding result by reducing the rate of maternal and child mortality in the state.
