Abia Govt. reopens renovated health centres

The Abia State government has reopened three renovated and retrofitted Primary Healthcare Centres in three communities of Aba South and Obingwa Local Government Areas to the beneficiaries.

Two of the health Centres are located at Asa Okpulo and Obuda communities, Aba South LGA, while another one is located at a community in
Umuafor village in Obingwa LGA.

The health facilities were equipped with brand new Beds, Vital signs monitor, Radiant warmer, drugs among others.

Addressing the beneficiaries in one of the centres in Obuda community, the commissioner for health in the state Professor Enoch Ogbonnaya Uche said the massive renovation of health centres across the state is inline with the vision of Governor Alex Otti, to provide quality healthcare to Abia residents both in urban cities and the rural communities.

The commissioner who urged beneficiaries to always use the health centres for treatment,
added that qualified doctors, nurses and other health workers have been posted to the centres to attend to patients health needs.

He said, “We came to open this health Centre today so that community members can have access to it for treatment during health crisis.

‘Pregnant women can come and see doctors and nurses here when the need arises.All the equipment that are required to take care of them, including Altrasounds machines are here.

“Your community is one of the communities that benefited from the first 200 health Centres undergoing renovation, therefore you must endeavor to support the government of Dr Alex Otti.

“Ensure that all the facilities brought to this facility is not taken away from here, the equipment here are of great quality and it cost government a lot of money to purchase, they belongs to Abia people and your community, you must look after it”.

Also speaking the traditional ruler of Asa Okpulo community HRH Eze Enyinnaya Uchenna Aron commended the governor for renovating the health Centres in his community.

He called on the state to assist the community by giving jobs to young men in its community policing team to encourage them to do their best in safeguarding the facilities.

The highpoint of the exercise was free medical screening and treatment for community members.
