The people of Ogwuaniocha community in Ogbaru Local Goverment Area of Anambra state have accused the Oduah in council and lion squad gang of igniting crisis in the community.

The palace spokesperson, Chief Anthony Nnaji (Onu-eze) and the President General of Ogwuaniocha Progressive Association, (O.P.A.) Comrade Chidi Ezeh in a press statement countered the allegation being peddled on social media that the community vigilance group had been arresting innocent people.

The statement claimed that the same gang was responsible for the abduction of their traditional ruler, HRH. Igwe Oliver Chike Nnaji on the 15th of November, 2021.

It added that the traditional ruler is yet to return since his abduction in 2021.

The royal family as well as the spokesman further alleged that the attacks on the traditional ruler began since he won his contender to the throne, one Christopher Obumselu.

Obumselu is accused of sponsoring the notorious gang which terrorised their community and made it inhabitable at the time.

They stated that the issue of power had been settled long ago during the regime of the former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, in 2014 when he issued certificate of recognition to Igwe Oliver Chike Nnaji as the traditional ruler of Ogwuaniocha in Ogbaru Local Government of Anambra State.

It was alleged in the statement that about 40 people were sent to their early graves and property razed by the said gang in the community.

According to the statement, security agents have their mode of operations which has enabled them get some persons published on the WANTED LIST by the Nigerian police since 2021 when the abduction and killings took place.

They want anyone found guilty to be made to face the music, adding that some persons arrested already started making some useful statements.

They commended the security operatives for their professionalism in restoring sanity to the community.

The community thanked the governor of Anambra state, Prof. Charles Soludo, for ensuring that Ogwuaniocha is made safe for the inhabitants.

The Onu-eze, the President General of Ogwuaniocha and the entire town union therefore call on the public to disregard the false insinuations and and publications against the security men in Ogbaru LGA.
