ASEPA DGM, Deputy Mayor tasks residents on sanitation

The Deputy General Manager Umuahia zone, Abia State Environmental Protection Agency, ASEPA Catechist Ambrose Jonah, has encouraged the residents of Umuahia Abia State capital to desitling their guitars as the Agency is ready to cart away refuse scooped from the gutters.

Interacting with journalists at Isi-gate axis of Umuahia on Saturday Jonah emphasized the need for people to imbibe the habit of making their environment clean at all times, by avoiding indiscriminate dumping of refuse, and make use of the designated ASEPA buckets and bags.

He maintained that his Agency in collaboration with the State Ministry of Environment
ASEPA will continue to sanitize Abians on the importance of environmental sanitation.

The DGM moreover appreciated most Abians who have cued into the clean and green vision of Governor Alex Otti to boost the aesthetic value of the state.

Also the Deputy Mayor of Umuahia North LGA, Hon. Amah Okechukwu Anthony, frowned at the method of refuse disposal in the capital city and warned defaulters to turn a new leaf.

Amah however expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance in the month of August sanitation exercise, encouraged residents to improve on the pace in the next environmental sanitation exercise.

He called on the key players in the environment sector to continue to sanitize the citizens and residents especially those at the grassroots level on the need to live in a healthy environment and also use the waste bag that the ASEPA has provided for refuse disposal.
