Generate Ideas that will Foster Development in Aro – Eze Eberechukwu Oji

His Eminence Eze Dr Eberechukwu Oji has urged the people of Arochukwu Kingdom to generate ideas that will foster development and improve conditions in the State, emphasising that there is still much work to be done in Arochukwu Kingdom.

Speaking at Ikeji dinner event held at Alpha Plus Hotel, Amuvi to celebrate the people of Arochukwu during the Ikeji-Aro 2025, he encouraged the community to embrace their dialect and produce books and Bibles in that language to further promote and develop the Kingdom.

Emphasising leadership, he urged the Eze Ogos in charge of each village to serve the community rather than merely lead it, highlighting that every Aro person belongs to a compound and that proper leadership and followership must be established there before addressing the wider community.

“This is the time for Arochukwu. Since it has pleased God to have our son, Ugwuaro Dr Alex Otti, as the Governor of Abia State, and me as the Eze Aro of the Kingdom, it is time for Arochukwu to shine. We will undertake initiatives that reflect our royal heritage.”

The dinner featured a presentation of progress reports from various committees established last year, including the Aro Tourism Development Board, which outlined tourist sites and promotional campaigns, such as organising for indigenes and the diaspora. They are collaborating with the Commissioner for Arts, Culture, and Tourism, Engr. Mathew Ekwuribe as he aims to promote and participate in all Arochukwu tourism opportunities, as well as collaborate with the Abia State Government team to enhance future Ikeji-Aro events.

The “Light Up Aro” committee, empowered by His Eminence Eze Eberechukwu Oji, called on Aro sons and daughters to help illuminate their areas through the installation of solar lighting. They appealed for more community involvement to ensure that every nook and cranny of Aro shines brightly.

The Education Development Committee has successfully revitalised several primary schools in Aro. Other committees reported on boundary adjustments, traditional and judicial matters, the harmonisation of traditional rites, the Aro Education Trust Fund, waterworks and rural environments, and a sanitation campaign aimed at beautifying the community.

The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Barrister Oscar Chukwuma Okoro, encouraged the people to continue fostering love, unity, and community spirit. He praised the subcommittees for their outstanding work and promised that this year’s Ikeji-Aro would be unique and historic as the event concludes tomorrow.
