Gov. Otti reshuffles Absu management team, appoints new VC others

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has approved the appointment of Professor Ndukwe Okeudo, as the
new Vice Chancellor for Abia State University Uturu.
His appointment was sequel to the report of the Visitation Panel to the University led by Prof. Steve Okorodudu.
The Commissioner for information in the state Prince Okey Kanu announced the appointment of the new VC while briefing Journalists on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting presided by Gov Otti on Monday.
He added that the governor also appointed a former speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly RT. Hon Agwu U.Agwu as the Pro-Chancellor of the University, while Mrs Catherine Uju Ifejika, was appointed as the Chancellor of the University.
Okeudo will be taking over the management of the University from Professor Onyekachi Maxwell Ogbulu.
He said, ” The Governor also appointed Dr Onwubiko Dike as a member of the University Governing Council.
“He equally appointed two Deputy vice chancellors, four members of the University Senate, two members of the congregation, one members of the convocation and a new bussar.
“The appointment will take effect from November 1, 2024”.
The information boss said that the
organized Labour and Abia State government has resolve the issues concerning the payment of the new minimum wage amicably adding that the payment will commerce this month.
Kanu also disclosed that Local Government election in the State will hold on November 2, 2024 as scheduled by the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission.
“As part of efforts to ensure a hitch free election civil servants will work half day on November 1, to enable them travel to their villages for the election.
“There will also be restrictions of movement during the election but details of the restrictions will be announced in due course” he said.
The information commissioner also revealed that the he old Nnamdi Azikiwe secretariat in the state will soon be open for use following the completion of renovation work on the building which was out of use for five years now.
“The renovation of the secretariat is in line with government’s resolve to put all public building abandoned by the past administrations in the state into use. Gov. Alex Otti will be on ground himself to reopen the secretariat” he said.
