Governor Alex Otti, has never fail in keeping to his vows of restructuring the Abia State Civil Service and make ready for efficient service delivery.
The civil service as the engine room of the government, requires timely and proper restructuring/ upgrading if it must discharge its constitutional duties as expected.
Although Gov. Otti met a badly managed civil service that was weakened by many months of unpaid salary arrears, ghost workers syndrome, poor infrastructure, nepotism, bribery and corruption, the governor has continued to tackle the challenges ahead with a lot of successes being recorded.
Government workers in the state are now better motivated to serve the state because Gov. Otti has kept his promise of paying salaries on or before 28th day of every month.
The governor also went on to introduce the thirteenth month salary which the workers have enjoyed for two years.
The governor in collaboration with the office of the Head of Service led by Mr Benson Ojeikere, has equally reintroduced the regular in house training for all workers in government ministries, agencies and MDAs to equipped them for effective service delivery.
In terms of infrastructure the state government under Gov. Otti has upgraded the workers secretariat at Ogurube layout to provide a conducive environment for the workers.
It will be recalled, the long abandoned old secretariat was retrofitted and opened for use once again.
The governor has also connected the secretariat to the national grid for steady power supply.
This has made provision of water available within the facility because power is now available for pumping of water.
Not yet done Gov Otti is set to take the civil service to another greater height through the launch of the Umuahia Dedicated Internet Access/Wide Area Network (WAN).
The Project is indeed a landmark initiative aimed at revolutionizing digital connectivity within the Abia state civil service.
This groundbreaking for the lunch is scheduled to take place on Friday March 21, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Secretariat Complex, Ogurube Layout, Umuahia.
A statement by Prince Okey Kanu, the Hon. Commissioner for Information, stated that the project underscores the Abia State Government’s commitment to leveraging technology for efficient governance, improved service delivery, and a digitally empowered workforce.
A dedicated Internet Access (DIA) offers businesses a private, unshared internet connection with guaranteed bandwidth, leading to consistent, high-speed performance, enhanced reliability, and improved security.
The lunch of DIA/WAN in Umuahia will guaranteed larger Bandwidth reach with consistent speeds.
Unlike shared internet connections, DIA will ensure that the capital city always has the bandwidth it needs, preventing slowdowns and ensuring consistent performance, even during peak hours.
The introduction of the new internet facility will of course lay a solid foundation for the digitalization of all government businesses in the state.
Abia under Gov. Otti is breaking new grounds of advancement aimed at making the state a world class destination for investment opportunities and business transactions.
