As the end of the year approaches, the Lagos State Sports Commission, led by Director General Lekan Fatodu, has announced the limited availability of several sports facilities across the state.

This restriction comes as multiple bookings, events, and ongoing renovations take place at key venues.

According to the commission, the iconic Onikan Stadium is fully booked throughout December 2024. This venue will not be able to accommodate any additional bookings, including training sessions, events, or matches until January 2025.

For those still seeking venues, the Teslim Balogun Stadium offers a limited number of dates still available in December, but interested parties are encouraged to contact the commission promptly for inquiries and reservations. The Agege Stadium remains out of service due to ongoing construction work, making it unavailable for any activities during this period. Other facilities under the commission’s supervision are also undergoing renovation or improvements, affecting their availability.

Lekan Fatodu emphasized the importance of this temporary unavailability as the commission aims to maintain and enhance the quality of Lagos’s sports infrastructure. He noted that these efforts are in line with the state’s goal of becoming a premier sports hub in Africa. “We appreciate the public’s understanding and cooperation as we prepare our facilities to host top-tier events and ensure the best experience for athletes and spectators alike,” said Fatodu.

The public is advised to reach out to the Lagos State Sports Commission for any clarifications regarding facility status or to explore booking options for the upcoming year.
