Making the impossible possible’ – Gov. Ottis’ charismatic effect on Abia
By Elvis Chukwu
The effect of Governor Otti one can argue has gone beyond the natural. It now transcends the natural, into the supernatural.Man understands that the depth of his existence is spiritual and thus relates most effectively from his core, which is his heart.
It is a known fact that ‘Men of God’ don’t often associate with mundane things and do not stake their reputation on anything that is not within the authority of their religious foundation.
In recent days, a trend has evolved – Men Of God making pronouncements on the person and performance of Dr. Alex Chioma Otti as governor of Abia State.
In testifying of the wonders currently being performed by the transformative governor Alex Otti across ‘God’s Own State’, the highly revered Catholic Bishop of Umuahia, Most Rev. Michael Kalu Ukpong stated that “Things I thought would never happen in my lifetime in this state have been made possible by Governor Otti.”
This assertion came while the Man of God played host to the Governor at the diocesan headquarters – Mater Dei Cathedral in Umuahia. Bishop Ukpong spoke from the depths of his heart to the truth which has become absolutely obvious to all persons of goodwill – Governor Otti is performing wonders in Abia.
The Bishop broke protocol when he received Gov. Otti and his entourage while relating his personal experience travelling, before the coming of Gov. Otti on one of the numerous hitherto deathtraps recovered by the governor within the first two years of his four year official mandate. He recounted his bitter experience of 2018 while on a pastoral visit to Arochukwu through Ndi-Oji Road:
“I was told the road had been fixed by Governor Otti’s administration. Initially, I doubted it because of my 2018 experience, but I decided to try. From Amuvi Arochukwu to Igwu (Omenuko) Bridge, I spent only 25 minutes. I couldn’t believe it” Bishop Ukpong testified.
Also speaking on the famous “Omenuko” bridge, Bishop Ukpong added “if we fail to mention Igwu (Omenuko) Bridge, then we have not started. Since I became an adult, once you got to that bridge, the journey became scary until you crossed it. But now, nobody is afraid because of the work done there. What I thought was impossible has now been achieved. I never believed the bridge would look like this in my lifetime”! The leader of the Catholic faithful in Umuahia was enthused.
Such heart warming truths coming from a ‘Man of God’ whose only interest is for the right things to be done in governance. But for detractors who have closed their eyes and hearts to that which is right, this might just be another fake news!
These remarks from such highly placed preacher speak to his influence over the flock demanding that his word must convey authority and significance. He definitely was not hoodwinked to speak under duress for reward.
Going further, the Catholic Bishop noted that the good works of the governor which he saw travelling through Omenuko bridge and Ndiokereke-Ozuabam road is also being replicated in the commercial city of Aba as confirmed by no less a person than his brother and Catholic Bishop of Aba diocese Most Rev. Augustine Ndubueze Echema.
Bishop Echema publicly stated that he sent emissaries to find out if truly Gov. Otti was working on Port Harcourt road and other iconic projects in his city. His messengers came back, reporting that it was true as widely circulated.
Those who understand the weight of such endorsement cannot allow its value to be lost because they do not come cheap especially from such highly placed and revered spiritual leaders.
Earlier in the year, another minister of faith who served in the Assemblies of God Church Dr. John Amah through an open letter titled “Thank you His Excellency, Dr Alex Otti, The Listening Governor” praised the tireless efforts of the governor in transforming Abia state.
He describe Gov. Ottis’ leadership is outstanding and uncommon. Another preacher staking his reputation to endorse good governance under Gov. Otti in an open missive made available to newsmen and widely published.
Through all the open validation by these leaders of faith, one is forced to ask what is it that motivates them to so publicly stake their reputation for this governor? The answer is simple – good governance never before experienced in Abia.
It is worthy of note to mention that Dr. John Amah and the current chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party -PDP- in Abia state Abraham Amah are blood brothers. But Dr. John Amah took a public swipe at his brother and his political party -PDP- for poor performance while in power in the state.
Past administrations were at constant loggerheads with religious leaders owing to bad governance. A few courageous fathers of faith often took swipes at past governors and their appointees for neglecting the welfare of the people.
It is on record that Gov. Otti regularly visits different denominations on their days of worship to interact with them and to project the activities of his government as it impacts on the people.Host congregants are often ecstatic whenever the governor comes calling to partake in their worship services.
Beyond highlighting the good works of the governor, these leaders of faith have gone ahead to assure the governor of a second term come 2027 even before the political race begins.
According to Bishop Ukpong, anyone who dares to contest against Otti come 2027 will not only waste his time but his money because the man Otti will remain in office to complete his good works in Abia.
These clergymen are so impressed with Ottis’ leadership in just two years that they are willing to stake another Four years on him while he is yet to conclude his first Four year mandate – what an effect coming from ‘Charismatic Chioma Nde Abia’ even on religious leaders.
With men of conscience and faith acknowledging that a leader who has proved his worth through the execution of visible projects impacting positively on the people has come to office, then we can boldly conclude that Abia is on the right path of recovery from the locust years.
Indeed Governor Alex Otti has impressed across the divide. Many who espouse different philosophical, religious and political positions admit that his administration has done very well so far. The gale of defections in recent weeks by many who were of the old political order, into Gov. Ottis’ political platform is a notable reference to the fact that many now accept that the governor is performing.
Abia is on the right path and Dr. Alex Chioma Otti is leading the way to the bright future destined for the state.
A new Abia beckons to all Abians and men of unblemished conscience.
