President Tinubu’s Visit and Governor Otti’s Transformation Agenda in Enyimba City

By Ebere Uzoukwa, PhD

The historic city of Aba, popularly known as the Enyimba City and long celebrated as the commercial heartbeat of the Southeast, is today witnessing a bold transformation agenda under the purposeful leadership of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR. Once neglected by successive administrations, Aba’s vital infrastructure collapsed, stifling its vibrant economy and forcing residents and businesses to endure untold hardship. Roads failed, drainage systems deteriorated, and the city’s famed commercial energy was almost extinguished until Governor Otti’s intervention began to restore hope and reposition Aba as a true center of commerce and innovation.

In a little over two years, Governor Otti has demonstrated that leadership anchored on vision, integrity, and competence can turn despair into hope. His administration has been deliberate and methodical in rebuilding Aba’s collapsed infrastructure, with particular focus on restoring Port Harcourt Road, an iconic artery abandoned for decades despite its enormous economic importance to Aba, Abia State, and Nigeria at large. Reconstructed to world class standards by Julius Berger, this dual carriageway now stands as a proud symbol of Aba’s renewal and a testament to Governor Otti’s unwavering commitment to excellence.

Beyond Port Harcourt Road, other strategic roads including Ohanku Road, Ndoki Road, Ajiwe Street, Umuatako Road, Chief Nkoro Street and its spurs, as well as Gabriel Nwosu Street, have all received world class upgrades. Equipped with solar powered floodlights as a standard feature in Abia’s modern road projects, these roads embody a new philosophy of governance that prioritizes modernization, sustainability, and safety in urban development.

The historic visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to commission these projects on Friday, October 3, 2025, is not only a validation of Governor Otti’s infrastructural revolution but also a demonstration of renewed partnership between the Federal Government and Abia State in driving inclusive growth and sustainable development. For the people of Aba and Abia at large, this visit represents powerful recognition that the era of neglect has ended and that a new dawn of hope, growth, and prosperity has begun.

Governor Otti has consistently emphasized that his vision for Abia extends far beyond road construction. His agenda is a holistic transformation that touches every sector including healthcare, education, commerce, agriculture, security, and good governance across all 17 local government areas of the state. His determination to sustain this momentum is reinforced by the overwhelming support of Abians who, after years of disappointment, have found in him a leader they can trust and rally behind.

As President Tinubu commissions these landmark projects, Aba emerges not only as a city restored but also as a shining example of what purposeful leadership can achieve. The great Enyimba City is firmly back on the path of socio economic growth, reclaiming its rightful place as a powerhouse of commerce and industry. For Governor Alex Chioma Otti, this is only the beginning of Abia’s all round transformation.
