14 BRIGADE NIGERIAN ARMY TO HOST 82 DIVISION INTER-BRIGADE CORPORALS AND BELOW COMPETITION 2026 IN OHAFIA
14 Brigade Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of the 82 Division Inter-Brigade Corporals and Below Competition 2026, with the opening ceremony scheduled to take place at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks, Ohafia from 20 to 24 April 2026.
The opening ceremony is slated for Monday, 20 April 2026, while the closing ceremony will take place on Friday, 24 April 2026, culminating in the presentation of medals and awards to outstanding participants.
The five-day competition is a strategic capacity-building initiative aimed at enhancing leadership qualities, organizational efficiency, and professional competence among Corporals and soldiers below that rank. It serves as a critical platform for preparing junior personnel for higher responsibilities within the Nigerian Army, while reinforcing discipline, operational effectiveness, and esprit de corps.
Participants will be tested across a range of core military competencies, including weapon handling, drill, physical fitness, map reading, field craft and tactics. These activities are carefully designed to sharpen operational skills, promote discipline and excellence, boost morale, foster teamwork, and encourage healthy competition among units. The competition ultimately contributes to strengthening the overall operational readiness of the Nigerian Army.
The competition will feature 5 teams drawn from various formations within the 82 Division, including:
13 Brigade (Cross River State)
14 Brigade (Abia State)
34 Artillery Brigade (Imo and Anambra States)
82 Division Garrison (Enugu State)
44 Engineer and 54 Signal Brigades (Enugu State) including Women Battalion (Ebonyi State)
