“You’re a True Son of the Soil, Committed To the development of Bende” – Uwabunkonye Pays Glowing Tribute To Chima Anyaso

As part of activities marking his 45th birthday, celebrated on September 16, prominent philanthropist and founder of the Ofuji Foundation, Dr. Chima Desmond Anyaso, paid a familiarization visit to the Mayor of Bende Local Government Area, Deacon Uwabunkonye Bassey, and staff of the Bende LGA Council Headquarters.

The visit, which coincided with the week-long celebration of the Iriji Festival organized by the Ofuji Foundation, served both as a courtesy call and a gesture of solidarity with the local government leadership and workforce.

Speaking at the event held at the council headquarters, Dr. Anyaso expressed gratitude to Mayor Bassey for his commendable achievements within a short period in office. He noted that the visible progress in Bende reflects the broader transformation agenda of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti.

“What we are witnessing here today is a ripple effect of the great work Governor Otti is doing across the state. From infrastructure to economic reforms, every sector is being touched. I urge the workers and leadership of Bende LGA to continue supporting the governor and the mayor to sustain this momentum,” Dr. Anyaso stated.

In his response, Mayor Uwabunkonye Bassey expressed appreciation for Dr. Anyaso’s visit and generosity, describing him as a true son of the soil who continues to invest in the development of Bende and uplift lives across the state. He also revealed plans to convene a stakeholders’ summit to strategize on future development initiatives.

“Very soon, we will bring together all stakeholders in Bende to brainstorm on how to attract more development to our LGA,” the mayor announced.

Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Leader of the Bende Legislative Council, Hon. Chidiebere Chukwu, and the Chairman of the Bende chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Mr. Okechukwu, praised Dr. Anyaso for his consistent philanthropy and prayed for God’s continued blessings upon him.

The event was marked by camaraderie, reflections on leadership, and a renewed commitment to grassroots development in Bende LGA. It concluded with the cutting of Dr. Anyaso’s birthday cake alongside the mayor and council staff.
