Otti is delivering on campaign promises, says leader of support group

The State chairman of Abia Arise, a political structure working for the re-election of the Abia State Governor Alex Otti, Mazi Nkem Okoro, has said the governor is delivering on his 2023 campaign promises to the Abia electorate.
Nkem who spoke to South East Punch in Umuahia the state capital last Thursday cited the transformation of Porthacourt road Aba from a swampy terrain to standard road, improvement in the state cleanliness, free education, equipped health centers, and the introduction of electric buses as examples of the governor’s achievements.
He revealed that major urban and rural roads are also receiving attention in the state.
Okoro emphasized the group committed to strengthening democracy at the grassroots level through a structured approach, comprising a nine-man team in states, a three-man team in zones, a seven-man team in the LGAs, and a five-man team in the wards.
“We have organized these structures to effectively drive Governor Alex Otti’s policies to every corner of Abia.
“Abia Arise’s achievements, includes the inauguration of local government preschools, eco-market chapters, and urban market chapters, with plans to leverage technology through mobile applications to
enhance outreach’ he stated.
In responding to critics questioning the pace of work in the state, Okoro remarked, “During the 24 years of PDP governance, where were those making noise now? We are prepared to defend our mandate and will not be deterred.”
On voter engagement, he pointed out that there is an ongoing sensitization efforts, particularly targeting first-time voters, and urged citizens to secure their PVCs.
Speaking on pensioners welfare, Okoro assured that Gov. Otti is addressing outstanding payments, with a plan to clear the backlog gradually before the end of tenure.
Okoro also called on Abians to obtain their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) as the organization rallishes support for the 2027 election.
“Abians should pray for Governor Otti’s health and continued leadership, protect public infrastructure, and support the administration’s progress” he said.
