OUK – blowing hot and cold in the name of opposition politics
OUK – blowing hot and cold in the name of opposition politics
By Chukwuma Elvis.
Politics without rancour is most probably impossible particularly with the “winner take all” mentality that is ingrained in the psych of the average Nigerian politician who doesn’t know when to give up; admitting defeat and thereby retiring.
In advanced democracies, give it to them; the average politician knows when the game is up; admits loss when he is roundly defeated in an election. He accepts the loss as a sign of being rejected by the people and so fades into oblivion allowing those with better ideas to mount the saddle of leadership.
In this society things are done differently! Those who ought to have faded into history, continue to recycle themselves owing to weak structures and endemic hunger which has reduced much of the electorate to the status of beggars who accept handouts from those they should outrightly reject.
Equally, it is sad that one who is notable in the person of Senator Orji Kalu can blow hot and cold at the same time. A while ago in 2025, OUK visited Gov. Alex Otti at his Nvosi country home and paid glowing tributes to the governor acknowledging his giant strides particularly in infrastructure development across the state. This was widely circulated through the media.
Shortly thereafter, OUK granted what could be termed a world press conference at his country home in Ibere were for a second time within a few days he acknowledged that Gov. Otti was doing a good job in running the affairs of the state. Specifically, he – OUK – noted the excellent state of the reconstructed Umuahia-Ozuakoli-Akara-Alayi-Ibere- Abiriba road which OUK acknowledged he rode on his way home. He extolled Otti before newsmen at his country home stating that no other governor has performed creditably well since after he- OUK – left office.
It therefore buggles the mind how in one breath, OUK can praise Otti and the next moment describe Ottis road reconstruction efforts across the state as ‘merely painting of roads’. This is simply dishonourable and mischievous.
For the records, the road from Umuahia to Ibere – OUKs hometown in Abia North was done by Otti. The new Igwu bridge replacing the old omenuko bridge which was a deathtrap was built by Gov Otti in OUKs Abia North. The Ozuabam-Ndiokereke-Okobo-Amuvi road was reconstructed by Gov. Otti in OUKs Abia North senatorial district. The Ohafia-Ututu-Ihechiowa-Arochokwu road under reconstruction and soon to be completed is in OUKs Abia North senatorial district.
The establishment of the Greater Ohafia-Development-Authoriy – GODA – by the Alex Otti administration is for the good of OUKs Abia North Senatorial District. The afforgoing is just to mention a few of Ottis’ achievements in just under three years particularly in OUKs Abia North.
If OUK cannot see and in good conscience acknowledge these giant strides in infrastructure development under the administration of the transformative Governor Alex Otti, then his vision is very narrow and limited. It means that he is full of rancour and plays the politics of bitterness. He can pull a good man who is performing down just to highlight a narrow position which promotes selfishness instead of the collective good.
Time appears to have come when men such as this should be permanently retired from politics in society because they do not and have consciously chosen not to represent the collective good. Rather they override the common good to promote their selfish agenda – preferring to follow darkness instead of embracing light even when it beckons.
They are full of darkness and can definitely not see the new Abia hatched by the light bearing Otti for the good of all both at home and in the diaspora. Their conscience is seared and they are beyond redemption, choosing to make their abode with devils instead of aligning with Angels of good governance and advancement.
It is not for OUK to determine who is a one term governor. The power for such a mandate belongs to the people and the people have already endorsed Dr. Alex Otti for a second term – it is a done deal – the elections come 2027 will be a mere formality to fulfill all righteousness. ‘ChiomaAbia’ has won the hearts of his people – their trust in him has not been disappointing. Therefore as it was in 2023 so shall it be in 2027 and the good times will continue.
In many quarters across Abia, spent politicians from the old order have been warned not to bother by coming to campaign for votes because they would not be welcomed – because a good bird at home is worth two in the bush. A word is enough for the wise for those who can reason properly.
Otti is on the final lap to victory in 2027 – his numerous good works have earned him a second term in the consciousness of the voting Abia electorate. They will not be swayed by outright lies coming from those who had the opportunity to lift Abia but rather chose to shackle ‘Gods Own State’ in a wicked grip where one family determined sunrise and sunset.
In his usual calm but firm demeanor, Gov Otti has chosen not to be distracted from his focus on advancing the lot of Abia. He urged his support base which is huge and those who love and embrace good not to mind the noise from the weak and constantly weakening opposition who simply have been rendered jobless and retired from politics forever by good governance brought to bear by ‘ChiomaAbia’.
That Gov. Alex Otti will be in office for an unbroken 8 years is not in contest. He will not only be in office for a full two terms but will be succeeded by one who will follow his footsteps of good governance in Abia.
Abia electorate is for Gov. Otti and so as it was in 2023, so shall it be in 2027.
Abia is on the rise through the visionary Dr. Alex Otti.
