Sen. Akobundu set to roll out street light across Abia Central communities, promises more youth empowerment

The Senator Representing Abia Central Senatorial district, Senator Austin Akobundu says he has commenced the Second Phase of Light Up the Communities project aimed at improving the quality of life of the people across senatorial district.

Senator Akobundu stated this while briefing journalists of his achievements at his Liaison Office Umuahia on Wednesday.

He said that the project would cover another set of eleven Markets across the Senatorial District adding that the lighting up initiative would not only add to the aesthetics of the Markets, Communities but will also enhance the security and substantially boost commence and businesses activities across the designated areas.

The Lawmaker said that he has attracted several life changing projects through Youths and Women Empowerment Programs, sponsored many bills and supported several motions before the floor of Senate which has direct impact on the overall well-being of the people.

Senator Akobundu added that recently he organised a free medical outreach that covered 3 Local government areas of Ikwuano, Osisioma Ngwa and Umuahia North, with the second phase earmarked to cover the remaining 3 Local government areas of Isiala Ngwa North, Isiala Ngwa South and Umuahia South.

He further reaffirmed his committed to not only helping the present generation achieve its potential but also to secure the future of the next generations across the Senatorial District.

He also emphasized youth empowerment as a major priority of his administration, citing ongoing scholarship schemes, ICT programmes, AI and robotics training, vocational support initiatives, and business empowerment packages targeted at women and young people.

The senator revealed that hundreds of youths have already benefited from digital training programmes covering cybersecurity, software development, UI/UX design, digital marketing, and data science, alongside vocational training in cosmetology, sewing, farming, and paint production.

He stressed that sustainable development remains his primary focus, insisting that leadership should be measured by visible impact and opportunities created for the people.
