Abia AGN members ask Court to sack national president Rollas

Ogbonnaya Ikokwu, Umuahia

A member of the Actors Guild of Nigeria Abia State chapter Mr David Onyebuchi Amalaha has approached A Federal High Court sitting in Umuahia the Abia State capital to seek for an order to set aside the election approved by the board of trustees members of Actors Guild of Nigeria that elected Ejezie Emeka Rollas and his executives as the National president.

In a  suit no HC/UM/CS/92/2025
Amalaha asked the court to order Rollas and his executives to stop parading themselves as the National executives of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.

He Prayed the Court to order that all monies withdrawn from the account of Actors Guild of Nigeria since 2019 till date by the defendant be returned to the bank account of the Actors Guild of Nigeria or refund the sum of 50, 000 0000 (Fifty million naira) as general damages.

Speaking on why the suit was instituted against Rollas, AGN Project director in the state Mr Nwoko Nathaniel Udo-Chika, said
Rollas has refused to work with duly elected executives of guild in Abia State, adding he went out of way to appoint some of his cronies to lead the guild in the state.

According him “certain time ago an election was conducted and members of the Abia AGN executive led by David Onyebuchi Amalaha were elected but Emeka has been a  distraction to them which has brought the state chapter to its knee.

“It’s been from one court action to another, in the course of this we discovered that  Justice J.T Tsoho of Federal High Court Lagos while delivering judgement on suit No FHC/L/734/13 on March 20, 2015 held that the tenure of the Board of trustees of the Actors Guild of Nigeria compromising Prince Ifeanyi Dike, Emmanuel Ogbuagu, Murphy Stephen, Sunny MC Don and Okey Anthony  (Okey bakassi)
had expired.

“Now we want the court to interpret to us if Rollas should continue to act as President of  Actors Guild of Nigeria when those that appointed him have all been sacked by a Court as BoT members.

“Rollas has blatantly defied court order to vacate the seat as president and anything done against the court of law is null and void since those who brought him as President of the guild aren’t even registered members .

“He even went further to register new members while suspending some without any regard to the constitution which he even tried to amend if not for stiff resistance from the guild”.

The chief whip of AGN in the state Mr Chukwuemeka Solomon Onyekwere while speaking lamented on the irreparable damage Emeka Rollas has brought to the Agn Abia chapter and therefore alerted the police to stop him from commissioning the national headquarters of the organization in Abuja which is coming up on June 28.

He also expressed huge disappointment over Emeka’s continuous collection of registration and revalidation fees from members and thereby prayed the court to reverse everything and bring an abrupt end to Emeka’s illegal stay in office

“The AGN Abia therefore filed a suit to the Federal High Court Umuahia challenging the legality of Emeka’s presidency,to nullify everything he’s done while he held sway as President,to refund everything he fraudulently stole and to pay some damages where necessary”, he said.

When contacted his mobile number Rollas confirmed that he is aware of the law suit, adding that his lawyers had already handling the matter on his behalf.

He said, “I’m very much aware of the law suit and our lawyers are handling it.

“People who got into power through illegal means are dragging the guild to court. The judgement they claimed was delivered in 2015 has handled and the BOT was dissolved reconstituted and we have moved on.

“These group of people in Abia because they came into office without the supervision of the national body and we said you cannot be leaders in AGN without following the due process and they went to court and we defeated them, they now now went brought a judgment that we have already implemented in the past”.
