Abia LG Poll: ZLP wins 15 LG, YPP two

The Zenith Labour Party won 15 out the 17 Local Government Areas of Abia State in November 2, Local Government election while the Young Progressive Party won 2 Local Government Areas.
The chairman of the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission Prof George Chima declared the results in Commission’s head office in Umuahia the state capital on Saturday.
He said,”We have carried out the duty we were inaugurated on September 5 to undertake. It was not an easy an easy task, but we went out on our way to create awareness about the election across the state.
“It must noted that in incent times this commissioner has not conducted an election where over 12 political parties took part in, this on its own a plus to the commission on its own.
“The election was conducted across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state, it was free fair and credible. I want to that we have been able to conclude a task that could take up six to twelve months in two months.
“I congratulate the winners and the losers too, because in any election there must be winners and losers, the most important thing is that Abia has been peaceful and I want the peace to continue.
“I appreciate the security agencies for their support, political parties for playing the game according to the rules”.
