Desperate and spent – old guard politician flutters around like a headless chicken

By Chukwuma Elvis

For those who are filled with darkness and incapable of perceiving anything good in the new Abia with all major strides and attainments of Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, nothing good can come out of Nazareth because what constantly fuels their desire is the belief that they had become so entrenched in their former positions that nothing could ever move them.

They have continued to lick their wounds and now seek the most wicked and devious means to steal their way back to power in Abia. John Okiyi Kalu thinks himself some sort of a genius trying to stoke tribal sentiments by causing friction between our performing Governor Alex Otti and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. All in a desperate bid to rally their decimated ranks for a feeble fight to claim that which they think to be a birthright.

Wanting to get back into the corridors of power because you cannot survive another four years of Gov. Alex Otti as the performing Governor of Abia when elections are yet two years away is an admittance that the man is performing while JOK and his minions in the so called war room are scared stiff knowing the capacity of the incumbent.

Truly hunger can drive some to desperate action particularly those who became used to dipping their hands into the public till for personal benefits simply because they controlled the levers of power in Abia in the past and now they see being in power as a birth right. For them, no other person should occupy that position even in the face of credible achievements and democracy dividends.

If they were people of conscience, they ought to hide their faces in shame because Gov. Otti came from the people when they made a choice for him to lead Abia at this moment and he has justified the confidence reposed in him by the electorate in 2023.

These same elements of the old order fought desperately to scuttle that mandate but Devine order placed men and women of conscience as administrators of that process and they upheld the wishes of the people in choosing Otti to govern Abia. Thus Otti became the light of ‘God’s Own State’ transforming the negative narrative within two years in his four year mandate for all to see.

The new Abia is a delight to the majority but there remains a very tiny minority who by nature love darkness and have programmed their soul to not believe in anything good; reflected in their current state of bitterness because a Daniel or Nehemiah has come to office and is rebuilding the ruins they created for over two decades while in office.

It is indeed so disingenuous for JOK to seek to create dis-affection between a performing Governor in the person of Dr. Alex Otti and President Tinubu who recently sent a representative to commission projects completed by Otti. He must not know that Gov Otti already enjoys a very cordial relationship with the President which was cultivated from the moment Otti assumed office.

Some tried to scuttle the visit but a high powered delegation led by the Hon. Minister of Works Engr. David Umahi was sent by President Tinubu to Abia with a promise to come in person later in the year either in November or December highlighting the President’s desire to visit Abia in the near future despite not being able to make it on two occasions already owing to pressing state matters.

These desperate politicians don’t mind burning down the state so long as they see it as a means of stealing back into the corridors of power. They also don’t mind inciting Abians against a working government with lies and deliberate falsehood just to score cheap points. But Abians are not to be taken for a ride anymore – they are now wiser after getting to see the difference that good governance can make in the state within such a short period.

Abians can decipher, they can discriminate and distinguish between false narratives half truths and the truth . One does not require a magnifying glass to view a bangle worn on the wrist! A breath of fresh air pervades the landscape and Abians are glad that an Otti came to power for such a time as this.

The wicked imaginations of those who are yet to acknowledge that Abia has been liberated from the clutches of retardation will definitely meet frustration. Purposeful leadership anchored on positive vision will continue to ensure that Abia does not return to Egypt like some have wished.

It is surprising how these characters were able in the first place to make into the corridors of power, laying claim to our commonwealth stealing and looting, ensuring that the light of development remained dim all through their time in office. And yet they have the guts to rear up again to point fingers at a man who is working to dig Abia out of the quicksand which they – so called opposition – plunged the state into.

JOK and his CO travellers have failed utterly in seeking to bring about friction between the President and Gov. Otti. Chioma NdiAbia is too focused on the task at hand to be distracted and dragged into petty squabble which in no way will aid the process of governance.

Yet another effort in futility pursued by a tactless, non existent opposition operating on social media through E-rats and vermin to be soon exterminated by the overwhelming force of good governance emanating from the ever performing Dr. Alex Chioma Otti.

Come to think of it, they can’t stand the many achievements of Otti in such a short while – On several counts where they failed miserably, this administration is already successful – Port Harcourt road, Omenuko bridge, regular payment of salaries and pensions, security, health care delivery, resuscitation of Primary healthcare centers across the state, education, human capital development, sports development, care for the elderly and the vulnerable, women development, social security safety nets, just to mention a few – the list keeps growing and it is yet early days in the life of the administration.

The mandate to choose those to lead rests with the people – the electorate. The people gave Dr. Alex Otti the mandate to lead Abia in 2023 and he is doing a good job as testified by the people. It is not for some unholy alliance to determine who will be in office as governor of the state come 2027. This winning team as led by Otti is good enough to continue and to finish the work.

The mandate of the people shall stand come 2027 and not a rudderless so called opposition is capable of derailing the good that has come to Abia. It is already looking like a no contest because the class and capacity of the incumbent cannot be matched.

The days when “smash and grab” was the norm are over! Abia is on the right trajectory and the path of destiny. Egypt is behind – our destination is the promised Land.
