Give youths a chance, Abia APC reps aspirant urgres party leaders

The Abia State Director of the city boy movement Mayor Lucky Igbokwe,. has urged the state chapter of the All Progressive Congress to give young people the opportunity to fly its flag in the 2027 general election.
Igbokwe made the appeal on Monday at the APC state Secretariat, Azikwe road in Umuahia the state capital when he visited the state working committee of the party to inform them of his intentions to contest for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal constituency ticket in the party.
He solicited the leadership of the party to support young aspirants who have not held any elective office in the past in the forth coming primary election to enable them rally support for the party to win election in the state.
He said, “Youths who have never held political office should be given a chance in the forth coming party primary election.
“My ambition is not driven by mere political desire, but by a long-standing commitment to youth empowerment and party growth.
“The City Boy Movement under my leadership has mobilized over 60,000 youths in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, positioning himself as a grassroots force with proven political influence.
“No dream is too big. A dream only remains big when you are sleeping; it becomes achievable when you work towards it,” Igbokwe declared, signaling his readiness for the battle ahead.”
Drawing from his political journey, he recalled his strong showing in the 2023 Peoples Democratic party governorship primaries where he emerged second, noting that his resilience and experience have prepared him for the 2027 contest.
He further highlighted his contributions to employment and media development in Abia State, citing his ownership of Don FM and Ikoro FM as platforms that have not only created jobs but also amplified APC activities across the state.
In a strategic appeal, Igbokwe called on party leaders to prioritize fresh faces in politics, particularly youths who have never held public office, arguing that new leadership energy is critical for effective representation and development.
Responding, the Abia APC Chairman, Chijioke Chukwu, acknowledged Igbokwe’s contributions and praised his commitment to the party’s growth.
He the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency currently has a “vacancy” the APC is will to fill up come 2027.
According to him, “Effective representation goes beyond eloquence at the National Assembly, but that tangible benefits to constituents remain the true measure of legislative performance.
“No matter how well you speak in the chamber, if your people do not feel your impact, then you have not done well.”
He further advised Igbokwe to intensify consultations at the grassroots level, noting that the power to determine the party’s flag bearer has returned to ward and local government structures.
Chukwu assured him if Igbokwe secures the APC ticket, victory in the general election would be within reach.
