Labour Party elects new state Exco in Abia, Otti vows to support party

The Abia State chapter of the Labour Party has elected Mr Peter Azubuike, as its new state chairman.

Azubuike was elected on Saturday during the party’s State Congress held in Umuahia the state capital.

The new state chairman and other members of the State Working Committee, including, Mr Chucks Akamadu state secretary,
Mazi Ben Otti, organizing secretary and Mr Emenike Iroegbu publicity secretary emerged a consensus method of election which was earlier adopted by delegates at the congress.

Speaking shortly after the election of the new executive members of the party Governor Alex Otti, applauded the smooth conductor of the congress and promised to offer all the needed assistance for them to succeed in office.

He said, “I want to congratulate all the newly elected exco members and members of our party for conducting themselves in a decent and organized manner during the congress.

“This is how our things have always been and this is the beginning of a new era, gone are the days when somebody will be pulling from one direction and another will be pulling from another direction. This time we will all pull together from one direction.

“One thing you will take for granted is that as we have always done, we will support our party and the new leadership of the party. We want a smooth take off of the new administration”

The governor also congratulated the immediate past Acting state Chairman of the party Mazi Emmanuel Otti, for standing in the gap leading the party through the trying period up to the congress.

He urged to remain supportive to the party, adding that the party has more jobs for him.

In his acceptance speech Azubuike vowed to unite the party and make it more stronger across the state.

He commended the leaders of the party for choosing to lead them and vowed that leverage on the popularity of Otti to win elections across the state in 2027.
