Showtime Flag Football CEO Manal Nassar Rates 2024 Season High, Hints At Bigger Plans For 2025
The chief executive of Showtime Flag Football League (SFFL), Manal Nassar has issued a high scorecard for the past season, and hinted that there might be an expansion next year.
While heaping praises on the performances put up by Lagos Warriors and the eventual champions, Spartans during last Sunday’s final at Meadow Hall, Lekki, Nassar said all 12 teams in the league were good enough.

She added in an exclusive interview with sports247.ng: “Every team has the ability to win this final. It’s just a case of up and down for the various teams.
“Anyone that is down today will come up again next time, but you can’t always tell how the game would go.
“Injuries and pressure change games. Things could go wrong, and anything could happen.
“Both teams in the final were amazing, but all clubs that took part in this league had the right to be there … through the play-off and even in the final.”
Nassar went on to chart a vibrant course for the 2025 Showtime Bowl Series, with a hint that the organisers could decide to embark on an expansion if the conditions are right for it.
While noting various factors that have to be considered, she stated, “Next year, we may open it and make it bigger.
“It depends on how many teams we are ready to take up.
“We need to make sure they have good chances and that we can manage the season well.
“We don’t want to have a load of playoff matches and too many teams against each other.
“We may extend next year or still keep it at 12. There will be a lot of issues involved before we take the decision.
“We have to make sure the owners have the viability to take care of their teams … technically, financially and mentally.
“A lot of training will be involved, and we have to look at everything. We have to make sure of those things as our responsibility in running the league.”
Nassar concluded by reflecting on the season that ended this past Sunday; but admitted that all the players, coaches, officials and fans will now feel the absence of weekly action they had been used to.
“This past season started on September 7th and ended this Sunday, December 15th.
“So, it’s been around four months of excitement. But, now we’re going to face the holiday blues and ask ourselves, ‘What do we do every Friday and Sunday?’
“It’s been an amazing feeling, but now we’ll be asking what we’ll be doing until the next season begins.
“We have a lot coming up in 2025 but, right now, we have to focus on the winners.
“They deserve to be here and winners for the second time in a row. I’m really happy for them,” Nassar posited.
