The Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria (FFDGN) has congratulated its National Chairman, Dr Chris Akomas, on the occasion of his 66th birthday.
The Director-General of the forum, Dr Kenneth Ibe-Kalu, in a birthday message issued in Abuja, described Akomas as a committed public servant whose wealth of experience has strengthened the leadership of the forum.
Ibe-Kalu said Akomas had leveraged his experience in public administration to promote discussions on governance and national development.
According to him, the forum’s national conferences under Akomas’ leadership have provided platforms for former deputy governors and other stakeholders to exchange ideas on issues affecting the country.

He added that Akomas had continued to advocate policies aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians and addressing basic needs
Ibe-Kalu described Akomas as a bold and courageous leader who pursued issues he believed in with dedication and concern for humanity.
He called on Nigerians at home and abroad to join the forum in celebrating the former Abia deputy governor.
Akomas served as Deputy Governor of Abia and later represented the state as Federal Commissioner on the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
He also chaired the commission’s Indices and Disbursement Committee and served as Abia Commissioner for Lands and Survey.
The 66-year-old also held administrative positions at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI).
Akomas holds a PhD in Applied Psychology from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, and a master’s degree in Personnel Psychology from the University of Ibadan.
He is currently the National Chairman of the FFDGN and National Secretary of the South-East Stakeholders Forum.
The forum provides a platform for members to share governance experiences, promote national development and offer policy recommendations on democratic governance and socio-economic development.
The FFDGN is a non-partisan body comprising former deputy governors from the 36 states.
