We Appeal to All of You to Support Our Son; He Will Make Us Proud” — Igbere Community Leader, Okorie Ukonu, Makes Emotional Appeal for Chima Anyaso
It was an emotional moment on Saturday during the engagement with voters across the 214 polling units in Bende Local Government Area, organised by the Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chima Anyaso, ahead of the January 16, 2027 National Assembly election.
The moment came when Chief Okorie Ukonu, a community leader from Igbere in Bende Local Government Area, became visibly emotional while appealing to voters from across the constituency to support Dr. Chima Anyaso’s aspiration.
Speaking before participants at the gathering, Ukonu appealed to voters from Alayi, Item, Ugwueke/Ezeukwu, Uzuakoli, Bende, Itumbauzor, Umuhu/Ezechi, Ozuitem and Umuimenyi/Nkpa to rally behind the Labour Party candidate and support his bid to represent Bende Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
In an emotional appeal, he said: “We are appealing to all of you, support this our son, he will make us proud.”
His appeal underscored his desire to see a son of Igbere receive broad support across the constituency, as he urged voters to look beyond their immediate communities and unite behind the candidate.
Moved by the display of emotion, Dr. Chima Anyaso quickly approached Ukonu and asked him to stand up, reassuring him that he remained optimistic about the Labour Party’s chances in the election.
The encounter became one of the memorable moments of the engagement, which brought together representatives of voters from the 214 polling units across Bende’s 13 wards to discuss the constituency’s political future.
The event formed part of Anyaso’s ongoing consultations directly with the voters in the Polling Units as he seeks support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
