WORKING VISIT TO ABIA CP BY NUJ

The State Executives of Nigeria Union of Journalists,Abia Council led by the Chairman, Comrade Chidi Asonye embarked on a working visit to the Commissioner of Police Abia State Command, Danladi Isa on Monday, 17th February, 2025.
The visit took place in the main office of the Commissioner by 12.30 pm. Anchoring the visit, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mrs Maureen Chinaka red a scintillating profile of the Commissioner which gave insights into the boidata, educational qualifications and wealth of experience garnered by the Commissioner as well as the awards recieved by him. ASP, Chinaka also introduced other high-ranking officers who joined the Commissioner to host the journalists to include Deputy Commissioners of Police in charge of Operations and Administration Mr. Chris Okoro and Samuel Onoja, respectively. The PPRO was accompanied by her deputy PPRO, ASP. PRECIOUS.

In attendance from the NUJ, Abia State Council were: Comrade Iyke Onuegbu, Secretary, Mrs Chibuzo Maduka, Financial Secretary, Mr Chukwunma Emele, Chairman BCA Chapel, Mr Felix Obani Chairman Unity Federated Chapel and Mr Imeremba Imeremba Michael
Briefing the Commissioner on the reason for the visit, the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Chidi Asonye said he came to familiarise the Command with the new executives of the Council and to seek for areas of collaboration with the Command in other to enhance the maintenance of peace and security in the State by the Command.
Comrade Asonye applauded the Commissioner on the laudable achievements he has made since the assumption of duty, especially during the yuletide, when the State witnessed hitch free celebrations with minimal disturbances from the throwing of knock-outs by some members of the society.
The Abia NUJ Chairman urged the Commissioner to sustain the tempo of his good works and promised to work in tandem with the police to achieve maximum success in taming the tide of insecurity
In response, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Danladi Isa thanked the NUJ Council and members for a well- taught- out idea of embarking on a work visit to him and urged him to keep it up while describing journalists as partners in progress in the responsibilities of policing the State.
CP, Isa said he has taken cogent steps to reduce crime rate in the State and harped on the need for a good relationship between the police and the public disclosing that a unit headed by PPRO has been created to recieve complaints from the public on the conducts of the officers hinting that some officers had been demoted or dismissed owing to investigated unprofessional conducts.
In a vote of thanks, the Secretary of the Council, Comrade Iyke Onuegbu expressed profound appreciation to the Commissioner and his men for hosting them and assured that the Council will ensure sustenance of the good relationship with the Command.
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of plague by the Commissioner to NUJ Chairman in recognition of the importance of his visit to the Command.
