1000 Abia petty traders benefits from RHI economic empowerment programme

The wife of the President Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has said the Renewed Hope Initiative will continue to prioritize the economic empowerment of Nigerian women and youths.

The first lady also revealed that RHI has consistently delivered support to her target beneficiaries across the six geopolitical zones of the country inline with the economic policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

She spoke in Umuahia the Abia State capital on Thursday during the official flag off the RHI economic empowerment programme recapitalization grants for one thousand women petty traders.

Mrs Tinubu who was represented by Mrs. Salamatu Gbajabiamila, stated that empowering women economically is not just a moral imperative but also strategic, adding that when women thrive, their families, communities and the nation will prosper.

She revealed that RHI through the programme will provide 1000 pre-selected women petty traders per state with a grant of N50,000 each to recapitalize and grow their businesses.

Priscilla Otti, who is the coordinator of the programme in the state for making it a reality, particularly for her effort in identifying the traders in the state.

She said, “The grants provided today are intended to help our women overcome business challenges, expand their enterprises, create jobs, and contribute more robustly to our national economy.

“The beneficiaries are the heart of our local economies, the foundation of our communities, and the unsung heroes of our nation. Today, we celebrate their hard work and perseverance.”

In a remark Mrs Otti lauded Mrs Tinubu for being a beacon of hope and support to Nigerian women.

She urged the beneficiaries of the grant to embrace the opportunity with determination, emphasizing that the support will unlock new pathways for their economic aspirations.

Mrs Otti point out that the progressive policies of Gov. Otti’s led administration will continue to safeguard the interests of women and youths in the state.

In their remarks, the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Lekwachi Emetu, and the Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Mrs. Blessing Ngozi Felix, commended the Renewed Hope Initiative for its dedication to humanity and urged the women to make the most of this life-changing support.
