2023: I posses best quality to govern Abia, says APP gov candidate

The governorship candidate of the Action People Party in Abia State Sir Mascot uzor-Kalu, has said he possess the qualities that Abia People are looking for in a governor.

He pointed out that Abians need a young man with experience to reposition the State and put it on the part of progress.

He spoke at the Police Officers Mess in Umuahia the State capital, shortly after signing the Peace Accord by the governorship candidate of political parties in the State on Thursday.

Uzor-kalu, who noted that the governorship election will be a very competitive election, insisted that the peace accord was of atmost importance as it would grantee the safety of Abia residents during and after the election.

“I’m a peaceful man, I will never associate with anything violent, I’m in support of anything that will bring peace during and after the election”, he said.

He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to live to up its promises of conducting a free, fair and credible election.

He added that the one week extension of the election date is welcome development, since it was aimed at ensuring a hitch free election.

According to him, “We have to continue to campaign until the election day. I prefer that INEC shifted the election and get it right, than conduct it make some mistakes election. From what we heard the shift was for the commission to back up their data base and reconfigure the BVAS machines.

“If on the election day the BIVAS machine come with figures, nobody will say it was from the last election, because a week was given for it to be reconfigured.

“The number one problem we faced during presidential election was logistics issue and in some places the result was not uploaded on time. I believe INEC will get those issues right before the governorship election.

“If voting starts on time and ends on time, then collation will happen on time, but when voting starts late and collation enters the night hours, it gives room for all kinds of things to happen in the middle of the night.

“We all have fears our worries and we are still hoping that what INEC is promising us will come to pass. Even from what happened in the last election, there were a lot of improvement from what happened in 2019 election, but it’s not yet perfect and I’m ensure they still working to improve on it”.
