2027: Chima Anyaso Signs Bende Prosperity Contract, Promises to Serve Only Two Terms

— “We Are Winning This Election,” Anyaso Declares

The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr Chima Desmond Anyaso, has signed what he described as the “Bende Prosperity Contract”, a comprehensive blueprint outlining his commitments to the people of Bende if elected to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives in 2027.

The public presentation and signing of the document brought together traditional rulers, community leaders, President Generals, political stakeholders, religious leaders, youth representatives and other stakeholders from across Bende Federal Constituency.

The document, tagged “Walk With Me,” covers critical areas including agriculture, youth development, education, healthcare, infrastructure, enterprise development, women inclusion, sports and talent development, security and environmental sustainability.

Presenting the contract, Dr Chima Anyaso said the document was not another political manifesto filled with promises, but a covenant between him and the people of Bende which they would have the right to scrutinise and hold him accountable for.

“Today, I present to you ‘The Bende Prosperity Contract.’ This is not a manifesto full of big English and bigger lies. It is a contract. A covenant between me and you, written in plain words so that even our children can read it and hold me to it.”

He called on the people of Bende to move beyond what he described as empty promises and demand transparency, accountability and measurable results from anyone seeking to represent them.

“I want you to walk with me. Let us put an end to empty promises, big grammar without action, leaders who forget the road to home the moment their cars enter Abuja.”

The Labour Party candidate also questioned the practice of taking credit for projects executed with public funds, insisting that projects funded by taxpayers belong to the people and should not be presented as personal gifts by political office holders.

“When a project is funded with public money, and a man stands up to claim he single-handedly ‘gave’ it to you as a favour, that is not leadership. That is deceit.”

According to Anyaso, his responsibility as a federal lawmaker would be to attract quality federal interventions to Bende in areas such as roads, healthcare, education and youth development, while ensuring that the people understand that such projects are their rights and not personal favours.

“My task in Abuja is simple: to attract quality projects; roads, hospitals, schools, and real skills for our youth. But let me be clear: these projects belong to you.”

A major highlight of the address was Dr Chima Anyaso’s commitment to serve for only two terms if elected, in line with what he described as the political understanding between the Umunna and Ikwuisii blocs.

He said he would respect the arrangement and would not seek a third term in office, promising to support an Ikwuisii candidate at the appropriate time.

“I will respect that understanding. I will serve my term with the knowledge that power is not personal property. I will not seek a third term.”

“At the appropriate time, I will support an Ikwuisii candidate to take up the responsibility of representing Bende.”

He explained that leadership should create opportunities for younger generations rather than allow individuals to occupy political positions indefinitely.

“Leadership must create successors, not permanent occupants.”

Dr Anyaso also charged the selected leaders at the event to return to their respective communities and encourage the people not to be intimidated or discouraged ahead of the 2027 election.

“Do not be afraid. Do not allow anybody to intimidate you because you have chosen to support me. Do not allow anybody to tell you that this election has already been decided.”

“We are winning this one! The power belongs to you.”

He equally warned against electoral violence and called on young people not to allow themselves to be used as instruments of destruction during the election.

“No election is worth your life. No politician’s ambition is worth destroying your future.”

He assured the people that the Labour Party and his supporters would remain committed to protecting their democratic rights and ensuring that their votes count.

“Do not mistake our peaceful disposition for weakness.”

In a sermon at the event, the District Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Umuahia North Jerusalem, Rev. James Ndukwe, who spoke on the topic “Blessed Is the Nation Whose God Is the Lord,” drawing from Psalm 33:12–16 and other biblical passages, emphasised the importance of humility in leadership.

Rev. Ndukwe said God had promised to elevate those who remained humble, noting that he had observed Dr Chima Anyaso’s humility during the event.

“Any humble man, God promised to elevate. As I walked in and saw him, he knelt down to be prayed for, which shows that he is humble.”

He also referenced Lamentations 3, stressing the importance of God’s mercy and preservation.

Earlier, the Director General of the Chima Anyaso Campaign Organization, Pastor Okechukwu Dike, explained that the gathering was organised specifically for the public presentation and signing of the Bende Prosperity Contract.

“Our Principal, Dr Chima Anyaso, has brought us here, all the structures, to let us know what he intends to do.”

“He wants to stand before the fathers of Bende, our traditional rulers and all men of goodwill to sign a contract that if he goes to Abuja, anything not done, Bende people will hold him responsible.”

In his goodwill message, the Mayor of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. DCN Uwabunkonye Bassey, described the Bende Prosperity Contract as evidence of Dr Chima Anyaso’s preparedness for leadership.

“When you see a true leader, you don’t need to grumble. Chima Anyaso has shown that he is a leader. This document has streamlined the leadership of our incoming member of the House of Representatives.”

He said he would return to his community to promote the message of Dr Anyaso’s candidacy and declared his position against electoral malpractice.

“I am going home to tell my people that a true son has come to represent Bende people. I am making it public now that there will be no rigging in Bende.”

He also expressed confidence in Dr Anyaso’s electoral prospects ahead of the 2027 election.

The Abia State Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon. Peter Azubuike, said the party was confident of victory in Bende Federal Constituency, citing the content of the Prosperity Contract and the support generated by Dr Anyaso’s campaign.

“With what I have seen today, Dr Chima Anyaso is so selfless that the people have every reason to rejoice.”

He added:

“If someone said that he has done well, Chima Anyaso is coming to do better. This is New Abia.”

The state chairman assured the Bende Labour Party structure of the support of the state leadership whenever necessary.

“It is not a Bende affair alone. If need be, we will give a backup to Bende Labour Party.”

A Labour Party chieftain and founder of ECK Foundation, Chief Emeka Kalu (ECK), described Dr Chima Anyaso as a young man with the capacity and interest to represent the people of Bende.

“I came here as a Bende Town son to support my brother who has shown me capacity, my brother who will give us what we want in Bende.”

He urged voters to prepare for the election and protect their democratic mandate.

“Everyone should go and sharpen his PVC. Nobody should intimidate you. This vote must be counted.”

Speaking on behalf of the President Generals in Umunna, the President General of Item, Prince Okenwa Ichie, described the public signing of the Bende Prosperity Contract as unprecedented in the constituency.

“On behalf of the President Generals of the whole Bende, our own Dr Chima Anyaso (OFUJI), I want to say that this is the first of its kind in the whole Bende. They do all these abroad.”

He assured Dr Anyaso of the support of the Umunna bloc, expressing confidence that the candidate would receive overwhelming support in the 2027 election.

The event attracted President Generals from communities across Bende, alongside traditional rulers, political leaders, religious leaders and other stakeholders.

The Governor of Abia State, Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, was represented at the occasion by Prof. Ijeoma Iheukwumere, who conveyed the Governor’s goodwill and assured Dr Chima Anyaso of the support of the Labour Party towards his electoral bid.

With the signing of the Bende Prosperity Contract, Dr Chima Anyaso said the document would remain a reference point for his relationship with the people of Bende, urging them to “read it, question it, keep it” and, if elected, hold him accountable to every commitment contained therein.

“And if you give me your mandate, hold me to it. I am ready. God bless Bende. O ga di ka oluebube.” He Concluded.
