A Governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress in Abia State Chief Eric Opah has outlined his vision for the State, emphasizing industrialization, job creation, and unity as the core of his agenda ahead of the upcoming elections.
Opah spoke on Wednesday at the APC state Secretariat on Azikwe Road in Umuahia the state said his aspiration is not driven by personal ambition but by the need for accountable government and practical development in Abia.
Opah pledged to revive moribund industries across the state and position Abia as a trade hub, drawing inspiration from models like China’s Canton Fair.
He added that vocational education and skills-based training would be prioritized so that every home and facility can become productive.”
He said, “With over 20 years of global experience in international transportation, shipping, aviation, and oil and gas logistics, I am bringing proven business competence to public service together with industrialization and job creation
“We will target infrastructure development and practical education that is essential to support industrial growth and sustainable employment.
“There is no ‘new’ and ‘old’ Abia. there is only one Abia,” he said, noting that his administration would focus on unifying the state for collective progress.
“Abia must align with the federal government to access development opportunities and funding currently benefiting neighboring states.
He noted that current revenue allocations to Abia have not translated into visible development and pledged to bridge that gap.
On governance and accountability,
Opah said transparency, honesty, and timely payment of workers’ salaries would be non-negotiable under his leadership.
He added that his experience building a business from the ground up to operate in five countries gives him the competence to deliver results for Abia.
Responding the APC Chairman in the State Chief Chijioke Chukwu, said the party will provide a level playing ground for all aspirants to canvas for votes ahead of the forthcoming party primaries.
He stated that any governorship aspirant who refuses to come down to the State Working Committee of the party to declare his intentions is only a social media content creator.
He said, “We want men who are serious with vision of the party which is centered on moving the state forward to join the contest. We have promised to give every aspirant a level playing ground during the primaries.
“Aspirants who declared their intentions on Facebook without coming here to consult with the SWC members are content creators and we are not ready to waste our time with such aspirants.”
