Abia community vows to fight illicit drugs dealers, solicits government’s help to complete roads, health centre

The Ehume Omagwu Autonomous Community in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State has vowed to root suspected criminal elements who indulge in sale of illicit drugs to youths in the community.
The traditional ruler of the community HRH Eze-Elect Chukwudike John-Osuagwu, who disclosed this on Monday during an exclusive interview with our correspondent said when those selling harmful substances are chased away from the community, the risk of drug abuse will be reduced to the least minimum.
The monarch opined that when illicit drugs become difficult to access by the youths, the community can assist them to acquire meaningful skills to earn a living.
The traditional ruler of the community under his watch will assiduously ensure that every child born in the area has access to Western education.
He said,”Our focus is on making education accessible to our young ones especially those of them from indigent homes.The youth have been dropping out of school because of financial challenges.
“Some of them, nobody can assist them. We need to send our youth back to school because at the end of the day, if they don’t know how to read and write, I don’t know how they are going to meet all the challenges that will befall them as adults.
“Education is the bedrock of success even if one wants to venture into private business or in the global world to succeed.Even though our community school has been demolished, the government team is putting a new structure over there.
The monarch also called on the Abia State state government to construct rural roads in the community, assist in health care delivery and set up an agricultural processing industry to encourage local farmers to process their farm products and reduce post harvest losses.
In his words “We need the government to come to our aid and assist us to set up an agricultural processing industry to help our farmers process and preserve their crops.
“We also need the government to complete the roads leading to our community which is not yet completed by now.So the government should step in and help us to have an easy movement from point A to point B.
In the aspect of health,He stated; “Also,We are building a gigantic health centre close to our central school.
“We are already working on a lot of things in this community. So by the grace of God, more will still come since the right person is on the throne.”
