Obinna Nwosu, the candidate of the
African Democratic party (ADC) has faulted the absence of other candidates listed to participate in the much publicized Abia State Election Debate for Ikwuano Umuahia federal constituency, who failed to honour the invitation.
Nwosu, who spoke during the debate on Monday January 23, 2023, said the absence of other candidates who he described as people who should know that they have a deep sense of responsibility, failed to join the debate was a slap on the faces of their constituents.
He however added that his deep sense of responsibility prompted him to join in the debate.
In his words: “candidates who show up for debates are candidates who respect their constituency, I know of candidates who are in town and they were notified of this debate two months ago, but they failed to show up, this is a slap to the people and I hope the people will take action”.
Chimaobi Ogbundiogu, of the Young Progressives Party ( YPP) and Obinna Nwosu (ADC) on Monday slugged it out in the  kick off of the 2023 Abia State Election Debate.
Both are contesting to represent the people of  Ikwuanor Umuahia federal constituency in the green chambers.
Other candidates absent from the debate were Obi Aguocha of the labour party(LP), RT. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Orji of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP), Engr. Ogbonnaya Ibeji Abarikwu of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Hon Obilo Ogbonna of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
