Eze Aro stool: Court criminal charge against Idei adjourn sine die

A Magistrate Court sitting in Umuahia the Abia State capital has adjourned sine die a case of an alleged impersonation brought by the Abia State government against a claimant to the traditional stool of Arochukwu kingdom Mazi Godwin Kanu Idei.

The presiding magistrate Nkwachi Onwutebe, adjourned the matter on Friday sequel to a judicial review filled by the counsel to defendant Mr Jude Nwaokoro.

Recall that a panel of inquiry by the State government has recommended Prince Eberechukwu Oji as the duly selected Eze Aro designate.

Oji was subsequently crowned and given a staff of office by the commissioners for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Prince Nwachukwu last week.

The traditional ruler of Ibom Isii kindred Eze Kanu Nwa Kanu, was subsequently dethroned for crowing Idei in defiant to lay down procedure of crowing traditional rulers in the state.

But speaking shortly after the court hearing Nwaokoro, said his client had approached the High Court to challenge an alleged case of incompetence to ascend the Eze Aro throne by the State Goverment.
