Eze Aro’s Coronation Anniversary To Drive Long-Awaited Aro Renaissance, says Nwaka
The Central Planning Committee of the Second Coronation Anniversary of His Eminence Eze Dr Eberechukwu Oji, Eze Aro the 9th of Arochukwu Kingdom have explained that the celebration has become an annual event to promote the cultural, economic and tourism potential of the ancient Arochukwu Kingdom.
Speaking during a media programme at the Family Love FM in Umuahia, Abia State, ahead of the anniversary, Mazi Dr Otti Nwaka, the Vice Chairman of the CPC said the annual celebration is aimed at driving the long-envisioned Aro Renaissance by attracting visitors from across Nigeria and the diaspora, while boosting commerce, hospitality and tourism in the kingdom.
He described the monarch as a well-prepared traditional ruler with a deep understanding of Aro customs and heritage, noting that his royal lineage and commitment to the growth of the kingdom have inspired the decision to sustain the annual celebration.
“We have an Eze that is well groomed. His grandfather was the iconic Eze Aro, His Majesty, Mazi Kanu Oji, CFR, OBE. We are inviting our people and friends to come to Arochukwu, join the celebration, and give thanks to God for the good things He has been doing for us,” the CPC vice chair said.
The Publicity Secretary of Nzuko Aro Worldwide Dr Eustace Njaka stated that His Eminence is thoroughbred and has been able to push the Kingdom through proper administration of justice. He also urged Aro sons and daughters, friends of the kingdom and lovers of culture to attend the festivities, stressing that the event is not only a celebration of the monarch’s reign but also an opportunity to strengthen unity and preserve the kingdom’s rich cultural heritage.
Chairman of the central planning committee, Mazi Barrister Uche Okoro, expressed confidence in the preparations made by his team, saying they were ready to welcome guests from across the world.
The Head of Publicity and Publications, Dr. Azubike Okoro described preparations for the anniversary as successful and extended an invitation to the global Aro community and the general public to participate in the celebration.
Some Arochukwu Sons and daughters who contributed revealed that the annual coronation anniversary is designed to stimulate economic activities by encouraging regular visits to Arochukwu, increasing patronage of hotels, transport operators, traders and tourism businesses, while showcasing the kingdom’s cultural heritage to a wider audience.
They argued that if the economic, cultural, and social benefits continue to outweigh the costs, the annual coronation anniversary remains a worthwhile investment in the future of Arochukwu.
The organisers also called on Aro villages and branches of Nzuko Aro across the world to promote the event and counter misinformation surrounding the yearly celebration.
They expressed optimism that the anniversary and the post-coronation activities would leave lasting memories for Umu Aro, dignitaries, and visitors, while advancing the vision of an Aro Renaissance built on culture, commerce and tourism.
