German agency appoints Abia ex-law maker as country director
The German Initiative for Knowledge Transfer has appointed a former Abia lawmaker, Mr Obinna Ichita, as its Country Director/Principal Representative in Nigeria.
Before his appointment, Ichita was the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance in the 2023 General Elections in Abia.
He represented Aba South State Constituency in the Abia House of Assembly from 2019 to 2023.
In the appointment letter signed by the Board Secretary of the agency, Daniel Ferris, and cited by the News Agency of Nigeria of Nigeria of Nigeria (NAN), Ichita’s appointment took effect on Monday, January 8.
It stated, “In conjunction with the appropriate authorities and our development partners, you shall coordinate and direct the activities of the agency with a view to achieving the aid and development mandate of the agency in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
It further stated that the “relevant authorities have been notified of this development”.
In a statement issued to newsmen in Umuahia on Monday, Ichita expressed delight over his appointment.
He thanked individuals and corporate organisations that had a hand in his nomination for the job and promised to discharge his responsibilities diligently.
He said that the country would benefit immensely from the initiative in the areas of agriculture, Information Technology, Science and Mathematics, Hydro Carbon, Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, amongst others.
