The maiden edition of the Ohafia Unity Cup organised by the youth wing of the Ohafia Improvement Union, Aba branch will commmence on Monday 2nd October, 2023.
The competition is aimed at bringing together and Uniting Youths of the 26 villages that make up Ohafia.
This was disclosed to newsmen by the President of the association, Comrade Nkele Nnochin on Sunday in Aba.
Nkele says after the election that brought his administration to office, it was discovered that youths of some villages in Ohafia were not together hence the decisiond to use sports especially football, globally known as a uniting factor to change the narrative.
The Youth leader revealed that the football competition intitiative has drawn a good number of ohafia indigenes in the commercial city closer.
Speaking on behalf of the LOC chairman, KingJoe Akuma, the administrative officer of the committee, Hon. Chijioke Kalu Ukpai, popularly known as Parica, called on scouts all over the world to grace the competition and assured that great talents would be discoverved through the compettiion.
The opening ceremony is expected to be graced by the deputy Governor of Abia state, Chief Engr. Ikechi Emetu, Chief Hon. Alex Ikwechege (Onyeocha Na Aba) and a host of other dignitaries, followed by an opening match between Ebem and Elu Ohafia.
