Opinion: Abia Artist and Patriots call on Buhari to caution Ikpeazu to avoid setting the State on fire by upturning 2023 Guber election

 The 2023 Gubernatorial Election has shown that the Abia State Governor-Elect Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, was overwhelmingly voted for by the people and residents in Abia State.

Abians displayed uncommon courage, despite all the intimidation, suppression, harassment prior to the election.

Based on the above, it is very important that this mandate that was freely given to Otti, be protected, secured, so that Abians can enjoy the democratic dividend Otti promised them.

Investigation has revealed to us that some individuals are fighting hard through legal and illegal means to upturn this election which has given Abians hope that the long-awaited Abia of our dream can be visible.

We have gathered that agents of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State and allies, are trying to mortgage this state in a bid to get favourable judgement for their governorship candidate who lost woefully during the election.

They are trying to apply the same method applied by a current governor in a neighboring state, thereby denying Ndi-Abia the rightful government they voted for.

We are fully aware of all the nocturnal meetings, all the moves to buy judgement and the desperation to keep holding Abia State in bondage.

We have learnt that the desperation is heighten due to the rot in the accounts of Abia State Government and the fear that Governor-Elect Dr. Alex Chioma Otti OFR will open the books.

The jubilation in Nigeria when Otti was declared winner of the election, exposes the fact that even Nigerians believe that Abia State has been plagued with bad governance for too long.

At this point, we call on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari and well-meaning Nigerians to advise Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and the PDP on the following;

1. To allow the mandate of the people to stand
2. Not to plunge Abia State into political violence
3. Allow the tribunal to do their job without undue influence
4. Don’t waste the little resources left in the coffers of the state in a bid to buy judgement
5. Use the resources available to reduce the backlog of unpaid salaries
6. Engage in restitution
