Notably, staff of Abia State University were owed 11 months’ salary, totaling N3.195 billion. Abia Polytechnic staff faced an even more dire situation, with 33 months’ salary arrears amounting to over N4.5 billion. The Secondary Education Management Board staff and Abia pensioners also suffered from unresolved debts. The total debt stood at an alarming N18 billion.
Governor Otti has made significant strides in clearing these debts while simultaneously initiating developmental projects across the state. His commitment to regular payment of salaries and pensions demonstrates his dedication to the welfare of Abia State workers. This bold move has brought hope to the people, ushering in a new era of progress and development.
