Protect NYSC image by your conduct – Tanimu urges corps members
The 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Corps members deployed to Abia State have been urged to maintain the highest standards of personal conduct, stressing that their actions and behaviour would affect not only their individual reputations but also the image of the NYSC.
The State Coordinator, Yunusa Tanimu made the call at the Terminal Parade/Closing Ceremony of the Orientation Course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Umunna, Bende Local Government Area on Wednesday.
He advised the Corps Members to remain law-abiding and shun cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime, criminality and other forms of social vices as they proceed to their Places of Primary Assignment.
The State Coordinator reminded them that the completion of the Orientation Course marked the beginning of the second and more demanding phase of their national service, urging them to be responsible, disciplined and worthy ambassadors of the Scheme in their host communities and places of assignment.
He charged them to respect the customs and values of their host communities, promote peaceful coexistence and national integration, while approaching their assignments with diligence, enthusiasm and a genuine commitment to positive contributions.
Tanimu also stressed on the need for them to prioritise their safety, avoid unauthorised and night journeys, and ensure that their conduct at all times reflected the ideals and values of the NYSC.
He further encouraged them to make their service year meaningful by taking advantage of opportunities provided by the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme and using the Community Development Service platform to address genuine needs of their host communities.
The State Coordinator further expressed appreciation to the Abia State Government, Corps Employers, Local Government Chairmen, host communities and other stakeholders for their support to the Scheme, while commending the Camp Management, collaborating agencies and other personnel for contributing to the successful conduct of the Orientation Course.
He thereafter congratulated the Corps Members on completing the 21-day exercise and urged them to accept their postings in good faith, declaring the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course officially closed in Abia on behalf of the Director General.
The closing ceremony was a low-key one that saw the 1, 739 registered corps members complete the orientation course exercise in Abia State.
