The Forum of Chairmen of Registered Political Parties in Abia State made up of 9 INEC recognized Abia State Chairmen of Political Party Chairmen, namely Accord, Action Alliance, All African Congress, Booth Party, NRM, PRP, NNPP, SDP, and ZLP congratulates his Excellency the Governor-Elect of Abia State Chief Alex Chioma Otti on his resounding election as the next Executive Governor of Abia State come May 29th, 2023.

The Forum prayed to God to give him the grace and enablement to serve and deliver the dividends of democracy to Abians for which he has consistently campaigned.

In a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Umuahia by the convener’s Barrister Ikenna Edozie of the Action Alliance and Engr. Ogbonnaya Uma (Accord), noted that the Political Parties did not hesitate to promptly sign the Abia State Gubernatorial Election results on the day of the declaration of final results despite pressures and luring inducements from certain quarters.

The forum also opposed any plan or steps by the outgoing PDP-led Government to conduct Local Government Elections at the twilight of his administration.
According to the chairmen, the outgoing PDP led Government lacks the mandate and support of Abians to conduct local government elections, describing it as unfair and undemocratic for Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) to proceed to conduct an election when all the Registered Political Parties in Abia State have not been consulted.

The political parties, therefore declare their interest in joining in the suit restraining ABSIEC from taking any further steps to conduct the election.
